About us: You & I

“These are exciting times in clinical neurological sciences!”  In fact, these are the most exciting times ever for neuroscience in the history of medicine. The last 2 decades have witnessed unimagined progress in the understanding and treatment of neurological disorders, many ever so considered relentlessly progressive and frequently fatal. Now, with a tiny incision in the groin, a neuroendovascular surgeon, AKA interventional neuroradiologist or neurointerventionalist, can cure a bleeding brain aneurysm - a ruptured bubble on a cerebral artery! A cerebrovascular neurosurgeon can bypass or transposition facial and scalp arteries to the brain when the intracranial vessels are narrow or occluded and unamenable to conventional revascularization! A functional neurosurgeon can insert electrodes in the deep structures of the brain to control the disabling manifestations of Parkinson's disease! Image and electrophysiology guided surgical excisions can lead to lifelong cure of refractory seizures! These miraculous advances inspired and attracted many , like us to this complex field of medicine. However, just as this webpage, our work, as a bunch of physicians with a shared interest in neurological sciences, scientific thought, and humanity, is one in progress.

What started as camaraderie, loose chatter and dreams of some of the founding members dating as far back as 3 decades, United Neuroscience (UNI) came into existence in Bakersfield, California in the fall of 2015, with one unequivocal and unanimous commitment, to put science and the people it serves, first. To create in the community that we chose as home but lacked the scientific environment that we as physicians had the fortune of training in, at some of the most venerable institutions in the country and the world.

The brain is the final frontier in understanding the pathological basis and treatment of human diseases. So literally vast and figuratively deep, from headache to  tremors, dementia to seizures, tumors to demyelination, stroke to neuropathies, brain to spine, nerve to muscle, gene therapy to deep brain stimulation, simple reassurance to skull base neurosurgery, the clinical and surgical neurological science is impossible to master in totality by any one mind! Hence UNI adopted a programmatic approach to clinical neuroscience very similar to advanced tertiary-academic institutions. Our commitment is to provide the most scientific, most advanced, most beneficial, most cost-effective and the safest answers to what is generally considered the most complex and devastating conditions known to humans. Our dream is to build the center of excellence in every aspect and subdisciplines of neurological care in the communities we call ours.

As mentioned earlier, it's a work in progress! We appreciate your patience, your suggestions and your support, and invite you to partner with us for better brain health! And spine too!
